About Joseph
For twelve years Joseph Scott has worked with individuals one at a time and with groups, following a single thread: how does the conditioned self sustain itself, and what actually interrupts it?
He came to that question the long way — years of sitting, studying, and teaching, and then, in 2014, a revelation that none of that practice could have produced, though it had made the body available to receive it. He puts it in one sentence: awakening is not personal — there was never a Joseph to fall away.
That revelation became Moments Awake® — not a philosophy but a practical inquiry, tested across hundreds of sessions. The Occupant is the first full account of the work.
He lives in Tasmania and offers self-inquiry worldwide.
About Moments Awake
Moments Awake Pty Ltd is an Australian company and the home of Moments Awake® Self-Inquiry: the book, the sessions and groups, the facilitator accreditation programme, and the practitioners who sit with the work.
The work stands in an old lineage — Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, the direct-inquiry teachers of the last century — and claims no originality for the ground observation that the conditioned self is not ultimately what you are. What it contributes is a directly observable map of the mechanism, precise enough to work with.
